The downtown LA skyline...not too much smog today.

The downtown LA skyline…not too much smog today.

Awaken Conference 2008…Mosaic pastor, Erwin McManus, teaching. The conference was held at Mosaic’s Pasadena campus.

Awaken Conference 2008 and the Mosaic Pasadena campus.

Around downtown Pasadena.

Downtown Pasadena…pretty typical suburban USA.

My room while in the LA area…it was big enough for a large child to live in (large child = matt).

The actor, poet, friend, insurance salesman, goof-ball…Preston Vanderslice. Preston is a friend from high school and let me stay at his crib while I was in LA. Denise…Preston thinks you’re cool?

Nate Wigfield and me at his apartment. Nate is one of the pastors at Origins Long Beach.

The art show held by LA Street Productions around downtown LA.

Art…ummmm.

The coffee shop that the art show was held in…a pretty cool venue.

John Tiersma Watson doing some poetry. John is one of the main people at InnerCHANGE LA and the architect of LA Street Productions.

Some more art from the art show.

Another shot of the cool coffee shop.

Mosaic’s downtown campus. This is a side view of The Mayan…a club in downtown LA where Mosaic has Sunday night services.

A view of downtown LA from The Mayan parking lot…this club is right in the middle of LA.

Parking?

Erwin McManus teaching at The Mayan.

Everybody was leaving after the 5 pm service. There is a balcony in the club as well…I would guess that there are probably 500-700 people at one of these services.

The hang-out/bar area of The Mayan.

Mosaic’s DJ.

The art section is open for people to paint or draw during the service.

Another shot of The Mayan.

A view of The Mayan from the balcony.

The balcony again…one of the coolest venues I’ve ever seen.

The front entrance to The Mayan.

Eric Bryant and me. Eric is one of the lead pastors at Mosaic…and a Baylor graduate.

Downtown LA…can’t see the smog? Don’t worry, it’s there.

Downtown LA.

Fuller Seminary in Pasadena.

Another shot of the Admissions building at Fuller…I had a campus visit.

The cafeteria, library, and some classrooms at Fuller.

Dodger Stadium…ummm. I love baseball…it was a treat to buy a cheap ticket from a scalper, sit in a lame section, and watch the Dodgers lose.

Another pic of the stadium and the mountains in the distance.

Ty Denney and me at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Ty is the pastor of Westside Faith Community in LA.

Chinatown…not as wild as the one in San Francisco.

Outside The Dream Center.

Zach and me outside The Dream Center. Zach took me on a tour of the facilities and introduced me to many of the people who work there.

Ken Lucky and me. Ken is an old friend from high school who thinks he’s a good actor.

Some Hollywood houses built on the side of a hill…how in the world can they build those?

PALM TREES!!!! They love the palm trees here…

Ken is so sad…

LA looks cool. I agree that Mosiac is amazing. There is Mosaic group here that works with mentally challenged adults, is it the same group?
