Hello there…thanks for stopping by for a minute to check out the blog.
This blog exists so that all of y’all can stay up-dated about what is happening with me while I’m traveling this spring. Each of the cities that I will be traveling to will have multiple posts where I talk about the groups that I’m spending time with and offer reflections on what they’re doing, how that affects me, and how it is affecting the world.
I will be traveling to several different cities and spending time with different churches, ministries, groups, and seminaries in each of those cities. The trip will start on March 1, 2008 in Houston, TX and end on May 19, 2008 in Princeton, NJ. The idea for this trip started around May 2007 as I began to sense that I would one day be a part of a church-plant somewhere in the future. As this desire continued to grow, I began to contact many different churches and groups that I respected and wanted to learn from. Almost all of these groups said that if I could get to where they were located, they would be happy to spend time with me. This response was very encouraging to me…it’s an incredible opportunity for me to get alongside these people who are further along than I am.
I have 4 goals for my trip…
1) I want to fall deeper in love with Jesus while I’m traveling and spending time with different ministries
2) To grow in my understanding of what God is doing through spiritual communities around the United States
3) That pastoral relationships would develop between me and the leaders I spend time with
4) The vision for the future would be clarified and stirred deeper within me
Thanks for hanging on the blog with me…
Yah blog!
Sweet blog Matt! We can’t wait to read what you are up to. If you are free (and want to!) you should come and speak to our youth! We love you!
you’re the flippin man…
and nice job on the blog!…
Hey My Man, Matthew, I just wanted to wish you the best as you prepare for this jaunt into the nether reagions of our country.
A hodge podge of thoughts to ponder —
We minister out of the essence of who we are. Genuine Integrity and character are essential to effective ministry. They yield credibility and genuine fruit.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:9-10
My goal is to keep on keeping on, even when it seems hopeless. If I can keep in mind the One to whom I belong and serve, He will enable me to fulfill His purposes over the long-haul.
I like you.
You’re gonna have a great trip bro.
I’m excited for you and will definitely be standing with you in prayer.
Shalom shalom
